The Northeastern states also have higher than average rates of union membership.
Politics
Washington, particularly in urban areas like Seattle, tends to have more progressive and left-leaning politics, which aligns with the political leanings of many northeastern states. These places often prioritize social and environmental issues, support LGBTQ+ rights, and advocate for stricter environmental regulations. These states have consistently voted for Democratic presidential candidates in recent elections

Moreover, both Washington and the Northeast typically have fast internet speeds.
Geography
Like the Northeast region, Washington has a lot of coastline, although it is located on the Pacific Ocean, not the Atlantic. Its climate, particularly in the western part, is more similar to the Northeastern states than to many other states in the Western USA. Both areas get an ample amount of rainfall and reach freezing temperatures during the winter. They also have many mountains and forests.
