It is no surprise that the states with the most favorable laws to immigrants tend to have more Democrats in their governments, while the states with the most least favorable laws tend to have more Republicans in their governments. The Pacific Coast and states around large metropolitan area like New York City and Chicago tend to have more favorable laws, while the Deep South has less favorable laws.
