  1. Mississippi is on Alabama’s western border. It has by far the most similar voting record in presidential elections to Mississippi. Since 1964, these states have voted for the same candidates in every contest.
  2. South Carolina and Alabama have voted for the same candidates in every presidential election since 1972. However, in 1960 and 1968, most of Alabama’s electoral votes went to independent segregationist candidates unlike South Carolina.
