TOP 5 MOST SUCCESSFUL MLB FRANCHISES

1. New York Yankees – 573 pts.
The Yankees are by far the most successful team in MLB history. The have won the World Series a record 27 times, no other teams comes close. However, the team’s last World Series win was back in 2009.

2. St. Louis Cardinals – 270 pts.
The Cardinals have won the World Series 11 times, most recently in 2011. The team also has won 19 National League pennants, with 4 coming in the last 20 years. The team has been consistently good, but has never dominated any particular decade.

3. San Francisco Giants – 248 pts.
The Giants have won the World Series 8 times. Five of their wins came when they were still playing in New York, before they relocated. The team has had a lot of success recently, winning the World Series three times this decade.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers – 240 pts.
The Dodgers where originally based in Brooklyn, but since they moved to Los Angeles, the team has 5 won of their franchise’s 6 World Series titles. The team has also won the National League pennant an impressive 23 times. The team has not had much success recently, since their last World Series win came back in 1988.

5. Oakland Athletics – 218 pts.
The A’s franchise have won the World Series 9 times. A majority of those titles came when the A’s were still playing in Philadelphia before they moved to Kansas City and then later to Oakland. In addition, the team has won the American League pennant 15 times.
