TOP 5 MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAMS

1. BRAZIL – 122 pts.
Brazil has won the World Cup five times, the most of any country. However, it has been awhile since the team’s last win back in 2002. They also were runners-up twice and third place twice.

2. GERMANY – 107 pts.
The German men have won the World Cup four times, with their most recent win coming in 2014. The team has been impressively consistent, with four second place and four third places finishes as well. However, 2018 was one of their worst performances since they did not even make it out of the group stage.

3. ITALY – 92 pts.
Italy have also won the World Cup four times. The team won the first two World Cups held in Europe, in 1934 and 1938. Their most recent win was in 2006, however since then the team has failed to make it out of the group stage of the tournament.

4. ARGENTINA – 59 pts.
The Argentinians won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986. However they have not won it outside the Western Hemisphere. Argentina also were runners-up three times, most recently in 2014, when they were defeated by the Germans in the final.

5. FRANCE – 57 pts.
The French team has only recently become elite. They won the World Cup in 2018 and 1998, in addition to a second place finish in 2006. Before 1998, the team actually struggled to qualify for the tournament, missing out five different times.

    Do you plan to update it after the recent World Cup?

    May I perhaps suggest that a map is created, where the more points a country has, the darker its hue on the map?

    That would be interesting to see. I imagine Western Europe and Eastern South America would stand out.
